Sculpture and Ceramics
Creating sculpture and ceramics brings me a sense of serenity, well-being and humility and has proven to be a satisfying way for me to bring into the physical, my thoughts and dream images.
The process of transforming a block of clay into a recognizable object continues to enthrall and mystify me. I often sit down with clay and have no conscious thought or intention as to form and yet it appears. It is the pulling and pushing of clay and my willingness to be open to the process that creates the sculpted artwork.
Pen & Ink
Taking a blank white page and putting black ink to it is a compelling experience for me. I love the contrast of the black and white. I start with a basic outline on the page and as I start to work I "see" the completed work already on the page. As dot after dot is laid to the page the image becomes visible. The actual process is meditative and takes hours resulting in a sense of calm. Watching the image appear is a very humbling and spiritual experience knowing that my pen is guided by something greater than myself.
